Earning the generic
label Los Carpinteros (The Carpenters) from their colleagues at the
Instituto Superior de Arte, from which they graduated in 1994, Dagoberto
Rodriguez, Alexandre Arrechea, and Marco Castillo have been working
collaboratively since 1991. Among the most innovative and internationally
celebrated contemporary Cuban artists, the collective often works with
their hands, frequently sourcing everyday, domestic objects in their
sculptures and drawings. Characterized by the use of humor, punning
and metaphor, their work has been exhibited internationally and is in
public and private collections worldwide. |
